The Project

Comic Sans will offer educators/future educators who work in the field of teaching literacy to excluded adult learners a week-long workshop in the UK. Activities will focus on using comic book as a methodology for delivering a literacy curriculum. Our target group of participants will be educators working with adults in high support activities such as prison or street educators who will be invited in pairs from such institutions. Methodologies will be practical & participative, introducing educators to the methods of other participants as well as Everything is Possible’s innovative ways of using comic as a tool for teaching literacy.


This project is supported by ECORYS UK and the Lifelong Learning programme of the European Union.




All the logistics will be arranged by Everything is Possible team who will book travel in consultation with participants, reimburse participants or institutions for any preparation or local travel expenses they incurred.

Topic of the Workshop: Teaching and investigating methodologies to use Comic Books as a way to engage excluded learners in literacy learning.

Target group: Educators who work with excluded learners with additional support needs such as prison or street educators.
 

Expected number of participants: 20 international & 2 UK
Expected outputs:
Comic Sans will:
  • Bring together 22 educators (of excluded adults) from 11 countries.
  • Introduce participants to the concept of comic as a method of educating
  • Explore and test methodologies for creative literacy teaching
  • Prepare our own Comic Sans magazine
  • Translate this comic into different languages
  • Create a platform for peer support
  • Create a competence portfolio which assesses educators competencies in delivering adult education activities and offers suggestions for gaining further competencies.
